Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Gas Station Manager participates in all areas of day-to-day operations such as inventory ordering, maintaining the store image, and the supervision of employees working at the gas station. The manager will monitor all controllable expenses and keep them within their assigned budgets and targets and report regularly. They must determine stock needs, interact positively with vendors and customers, monitor receiving goods, maintain store inventory, and minimize waste and shortages. It is their main clerical accounting duty to reconcile all proceeds from the sale of gasoline and convenience store merchandise on a daily basis. The Gas Station Manager is responsible for ensuring the store adheres to company policies and procedures.

Wage Range: $ 28.00 - $34.00/h

The manager will monitor all controllable expenses and keep them within their assigned budgets and targets and report regularly. They must determine stock needs, interact positively with vendors and customers, monitor receiving goods, maintain store inventory, and minimize waste and shortages. It is their main clerical accounting duty to reconcile all proceeds from the sale of gasoline and convenience store merchandise on a daily basis. The Gas Station Manager is responsible for ensuring the store adheres to company policies and procedures.
 
Job Responsibilities:

As the Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:
•    Plan, direct and evaluate the operations of establishment.
•    Manage staff (hiring, scheduling, training, and assessing performance, etc.)  and assign duties accordingly
•    Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales.
•    Assist with advertising and marketing.   
•    Determine merchandise to be sold and implement price and credit policies.
•    Locate, select, and procure merchandise for resale.
•    Able to negotiate with vendors to secure best pricing and product.
•    Develop and implement sales strategies.
•    Plan budgets and authorize expenditures.
•    Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues promptly.
•    Determine staffing requirements and hire or oversee hiring of staff.
•    Ability to supervise a team, currently 5 other employees, both FT and PT.  
•    Ensure that safe work practices are followed including using proper lifting techniques.
•    Ensure compliance with all provincial legislation and regulations.
•    Other duties as assigned.
 
Experience requirements: 

•    2 years experience as a Gas Station Manager experience preferred.
•    4 years experience in retail management
•    Minimum of 5 years Customer Service experience preferred.
•    Familiarity using the Infonet C Store Commander system preferred, but not required.
•    Demonstrated proficiency with computers, and MS Office (MS Excel in particular).
•    High school diploma or equivalent.

 
Key Competencies: 

•    Strong knowledge of management of staff, inventory, placement, financial tracking, and reporting.
•    Familiarity with non-taxable sales an asset.
•    Detail oriented with strong analytical, time management and organizational skills.
•    Excellent communication skills.
•    Be able to lead and motivate a team.
•    Able to work with minimal supervision.
•    Available to work shifts from Monday-Sunday between 6:45 AM- 9:15 PM.
•    Physical ability to lift cases of product ranging from 30-40lbs.
•    Submit and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check.
•    Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
